Orpheus and Eurydice

About the Piece

Orpheus and Eurydice was created as my senior capstone project as a requirement for graduation at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I was inspired by the classic greek myth in the spring of 2015. From then until the spring of 2018, I worked in multiple mediums and classes to develop my concept to fruition. This piece was created primarily in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects with elements of textures painted by hand. With two years of concept development and a full year of actual production, this project took nearly three years to complete.

Artist Statement

There are many paths one can take to achieve happiness. In the past, I believed that fate was the only factor in determining which path to take; now I believe that fate does not always take control. Sometimes we must step in and make decisions to guide life in the direction we want it to go. Some decisions come easily; some come with sacrifices; others, still, force us to reevaluate our place in life altogether. No matter which decisions one makes, the end goal is always happiness.
